Classes

Chess in Education – US will offer two Chess in Education (CIE) certification classes in July 2024.
The four-day CIE Instructor Training – Level 1 Certification takes place July 22-25 at Manchester Community College in Manchester, NH. The course is intended for teachers seeking to use chess as a tool to develop academic and 21st century skill in children, grades 1-12.
The two-day CIE Instructor Training – Level 2 Certification is scheduled for July 25-26, also at Manchester Community College. Level 1 certification is a prerequisite for this course as well as experience teaching children chess in a classroom or club setting.
Both courses are led by National Chess Education Consultant Jerry Nash, with support from CIE-US level-2 certified instructors. As a result, these courses have garnered enthusiastic reviews  and inspired New Hampshire teachers participating in the Granite Gambit program.

Testimonial

Here is a typical testimonial comes from Vince, a New Hampshire high school teacher,

“The best four days of PD I’ve ever participated in. Step by step learning from how to play chess, how to teach in class, and how to implement chess across the curriculum with a lens of 21st Century skills and higher order thinking skills. Engaging and fun. Can’t wait for the Level 2 class. I wish every school in the state could attend at least one Chess in Schools workshop.”
