For the past three years, our professional development program has garnered rave reviews from New Hampshire teachers. Now you can register for our summer classes, offered free to NH teachers. (Other registrants welcome; see the registration page for fees.)
Our professional development opportunities are designed for K-12 educators like you, equipping you with the skills and knowledge to confidently integrate chess into your classroom instruction. Through our comprehensive training program, you will:
- Gain a deep understanding of the educational benefits of chess, including improved academic performance, critical thinking skills development, and increased focus and concentration.
- Learn effective instructional methods for teaching chess to students of all ages and ability levels.
- Discover how to ramp up student attention by integrating chess into your current teaching practices.
- Receive practical classroom management strategies to ensure a positive and engaging learning environment for your students.
- Earn your Chess in Education Instructor Certification, allowing you to implement chess instruction with confidence and credibility.
- Receive all the materials and equipment you will need to introduce chess into your classroom or after-school program in the new school year. Your classroom equipment package includes chess sets, ChessKid gold licenses, access to our CIE Resource Library, a chess demo board, a LogiqBoard license, and more.
Chess in Education Instructor Certification
As an educator, you’re always seeking new ways to engage your students and help them develop essential 21st-century skills. The Granite Gambit Chess in Education Instructor Certification program is taught by National Chess Education Consultant Jerry Nash. Nash is also Chairman of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), introducing educational chess in countries around the world.
Certification courses are offered at two levels. Level 1 certification requires limited chess experience. (Teachers with no chess experience may register but will be asked to complete a few hours of online lessons to gain familiarity with chess rules and piece movement.) Level 2 certification is available to those have taught chess and already completed Level 1 certification. Spots are limited. August 4, 2025 is the last day to register.
